Dr George Santis received his postgraduate general medical training at London Specialists Hospitals and his specialist training in Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Brompton Hospital London and the National Heart and Lung Institute, also in London. He gained experience in all common and rare respiratory problems.
In addition to his extensive clinical training, Dr Santis was awarded prestigious awards to pursue his research training. His doctoral work, at the National Heart & Lung Institute London was on the molecular genetics of cystic fibrosis. He was also the recipient of a prestigious Wellcome Trust Advanced Training Fellowship in Gene Therapy at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Transgene SA, Strasbourg, France.
At Guy's & St Thomas's Hospitals he leads the Unit for Thoracic Cancers and has established the Endobronchial Ultrasound service for diagnosis and management of thoracic diseases. Dr Santis also continues his research and academic activities as Head of Department of Asthma Allergy and Respiratory Science. -
