Mr William Bartlett is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with a specialist interests in Hip and Knee Surgery. After studying Medicine at University College London, he completed his initial surgical training on the St Bartholomew"s Hospital rotation.

He later undertook research into the novel use of laboratory grown cells to repair damaged cartilage in the knee. His specialist orthopaedic training was on the North East Thames rotation where he was fortunate work under the supervision of many renowned surgeons. Later he completed a fellowship at Stoke Mandeville and The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital where he received further training in more complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery, together with joint preserving surgical techniques.

Mr Bartlett"s NHS practice involves all aspects of hip and knee surgery and is based at the Whittington Hospital, London. Many of his patients are relatively young adults and his practice has therefore developed using predominately modern, high performing joint replacements that allow a closer return to normal function and hold the potential to outlast traditional replacements. He is involved in the early clinical evaluation of new prostheses and is also specifically interested in the use of computer guided joint replacement surgery. He is dedicated to facilitating easier and earlier patient recovery following surgery and uses a combination of surgical and anaesthetic techniques to allow patients to go home quickly (on average after 3 days following hip replacement).

Mr Bartlett has a keen interest in orthopaedic research; he regularly publishes research and reviews articles submitted to many orthopaedic Journals including the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. He is responsible mentoring of surgeons in training and is a faculty member of Postgraduate joint replacement courses at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Royal Society of Medicine and Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He lives in London with his wife and three children.
