    Mr Dawson-Bowling specialises in all aspects of lower limb surgery, most predominantly primary and revision hip and knee surgery. He holds a substantive consultant contract with Barts Health NHS Trust, with clinical duties at both the Royal London Hospital and Gateway Surgical Centre.

    He completed his undergraduate training at Magdalene College, Cambridge and Guy"s and St Thomas"s Hospitals. Since qualifying in 2000 he has gained extensive experience in all areas of orthopaedic surgery, culminating in subspecialist training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

    He maintains a strong academic interest, graduating in 2008 from Cardiff Law School with a Masters" degree in medical law (LLM). He also completed an MSc (2009) based on his laboratory research into uncemented hip resurfacing implants, and has co-authored 12 peer-reviewed publications. He regularly presents at international conventions, including the British Orthopaedic Association and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

    Current research includes development of accelerated recovery pathways following joint replacement surgery. He has contributed book chapters on orthopaedics, trauma and medical law to volumes published by Oxford University Press and PasTest, and has himself published 3 orthopaedic textbooks as lead author or editor.
