    Mr Raghubir Kankate is a full time Orthopaedic Consultant based at the Bucks NHS Trust and is based at both Wycombe General Hospital and Stoke Mandeville Hospital. He has started seeing private patient"s at The Wellington Hospital in 2014.

    He was appointed in September 2005. His work is largely divided between the two hospitals, with his trauma work at Stoke and elective operating lists are at Wycome. He runs elective clinics across both sites.

    He is the Clinical Governance Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics in his trust and also a Consultant Appraiser for within the trust and for GMC revalidation.

    He has trainess working with him and is responsible for their training and teaching.The trainees include SPR’s , CT"s, and all grades of junior doctors.

    His interests are lower limb surgery particularly Foot and Ankle and Knee reconstructive surgery.

    This includes:

    Foot and Ankle: The vast majority of foot and ankle conditions need accurate assessment and more often than not can be initially treated by conservative means including footwear and orthotic advice and devices.

    Forefoot: Hallux valgus (Bunion) surgery including proximal and distal first metatarsal osteotomies such as Chevron osteotomies, Scarf, Ludloff osteotomies, Proximal opening wedge osteotomies, Lapidus procedure and 1st MTP arthrodesis. Lesser toe surgeries which include hammer and claw toe corrective operations, bunionette corrections, Morton"s neuroma and others.

    Midfoot and Hindfoot: Corrective osteotomies and fusions which includes triple arthrodesis and limited fusions.
    Treatment for adult acquired flatfeet, the commonest cause being Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction and the treatment modalities include conservative, tendon transfer surgery with medial displacement calcaneal osteotomy and also triple arthrodesis. Rhematoid Foot and Ankle management.

    Ankle: Arthroscopic ankle surgery. Treatment for ankle impingement, Osteochondral lesions, Sports related Injuries.
    Treatment for Ankle arthritis including fusions and Ankle Replacements.

    He spent 5 months travelling across major Foot and Ankle Centers in the USA including Dallas, Oakland and Baltimore. Which gave him a vast exposure in the latest trends in the management of Foot and Ankle conditions and dealing with sports related injuries of the area. He also spent time with several eminent Foot and Ankle surgeons, some of whom are Dr Early, Dr Royer, Dr Brodsky, Dr Myerson and Dr Mann who are both regarded as the doyens of Foot and Ankle Surgery around the world.

    Knee: Soft tissue ligament reconstructive surgery which includes arthroscopic ACL, Medial and Lateral Collateral Ligament and Posterolateral Ligament reconstructions.
