My name is Paul Harnett and I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip, knee and trauma surgery. Half of my time is dedicated to hip and knee surgery including replacement surgery, revisions and knee ligament surgery (ACL, PCL and meniscus tears). In the other half of my time I treat major trauma and complex fractures including acetabular reconstruction and open fractures. On average, I carry out over 500 operations per year including over 100 hip and knee replacements.

My private practice is based at the Institute of Sports and Exercise Health, Princess Grace Hospital and at The Guthrie Clinic at King's College Hospital. My NHS base is at King's College Hospital in London, which is one of the leading major trauma centres in the country and a highly respected teaching hospital.

I graduated from the University of Bristol Medical School with an additional BSc in Sports Medicine. I completed my orthopaedic surgery training in London and sub-specialised during a number of prestigious fellowships in Vancouver (Canada), the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, the Elective Orthopaedic Centre in Epsom and the Royal London Hospital.

I am also a keen amateur sportsman regularly competing in triathlons and endurance races including Ironman Lanzarote, London Marathon, multiple triathlons per year, the Cape Epic Endurance Mountain Bike Race in South Africa. I was also an international downhill ski racer in my youth training at The National Ski Academy in Canada.
