    Mr Jonathan Pollock qualified from Oxford University Medical School following undergraduate training at Cambridge University. His Neurosurgical training began in Oxford with subsequent training in Nottingham and on the North Thames Rotation including posts at the Royal Free Hospital, National Hospital Queen Square, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Essex Neurosciences Centre. He completed a fellowship in Pituitary and Skull Base surgery at the National Hospital.

    Mr Pollock has worked as a consultant at the Essex Neurosciences Centre since 2002. His interests are in the treatment of Brain Tumours especially at the base of the skull such as acoustic neuroma, meningioma and pituitary tumours. He works closely with colleagues in ENT , maxillofacial and plastic surgery for the treatment of these tumours. Their collaboration is via a joint team meeting and a regular specialist clinic. Mr Pollock also has an extensive spinal surgery practice.

    In terms of research, Mr Pollock and his team have recently completed a review of our large series of skull base meningiomas, and a study of hormone function in meningiomas at the skull base. He is a member of the British Skull Base Society, the Pituitary Society , the Society of British Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (USA).

    He holds an additional role as a member of the SAC (the national training body for Neurosurgery) and he contributes to the authorship of the higher professional Neurosurgical examination. He is currently the Clinical Lead for Neurosurgery at Queens Hospital.
