    Gautam Mehra is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncologist at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in London. He graduated in 1996 and then completed his core training in Gynaecology in London at various London tertiary centres, including St Bartholomew’s hospital, St George’s Hospital, Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea & Hammersmith Hospitals. He has completed advanced training in complex Gynaecological pelvic surgery, including laparoscopic surgery, both in the United Kingdom and abroad.

    Gautam is an accredited subspecialist in Gynaecological Oncology. In 2012 he completed his training at two cancer centres, Guy's & St Thomas' Cancer Centre (GSTT) in London and The Kent Oncology centre in Maidstone. He has been an NHS Consultant in Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology at Guy's & St Thomas Hospital (GSTT) since 2014. He leads the Gynaecology Rapid-Access one-stop outpatient clinic at GSTT. Apart from being a core member of the Gynaecological Oncology team at GSTT, he also leads the Gynaecology group in the Genetic clinic for BRCA mutation careers at risk of Gynaecological cancer and offers counselling.

    Gautam has a keen interest in Robotic Surgery, and is completing his PhD in Robotics at the King’s College London (KCL) in the Department of Informatics (Centre of Robotic Research -CoRe). He is studying how to make medical robots more perceptive using haptic technology. His other research areas include laparoscopic surgery in Gynaecology and Gynaecological cancers, new techniques of sentinel lymph node detection in Gynaecological cancers, and fertility preserving treatments for Gynaecological cancer. He is currently the Gynaecology lead for the 100K Genome research project at GSTT and has published extensively in both Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology. He is also co-author of a textbook in laparoscopic surgery.

    Gautam is a senior Colposcopist accredited with BSCCP since 2007. He advises on cervical smears and treatment of abnormal cervical cells. He is member of numerous medical societies including the British Gynaecological Cancer Society (BGCS), British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE), European Society of Gynaecological Oncologist (ESGO), International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS), European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE), American Association of Gynaecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), Delhi Gynaecological Endoscopists society (DGES), Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI).

    Gautam was awarded the International Fellowship for Indian College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (ICOG) in 2012 and is currently the President of the London Chapter for Federation of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists of India - FOGSI.

    Gautam has been an invited speaker at several international scientific meetings and published his research in several Gynaecology and Oncology international journals. He has trained senior consultants and trainees through live surgical training workshops and is currently faculty on a number of training courses in Gynaecology, Minimal Access (Key-hole) Surgery & Gynaecological Oncology in the UK and abroad. He is currently the preceptor for Advanced Training Skills Module in Gynaecological Oncology in London deanery for postgraduate doctors.

    Gautam is passionate about providing his patients with the best care and his commitment to his patients is demonstrated by his availability to them around the clock. He is well known for his calm, sensitive and caring approach which patients have found extremely reassuring.
