    Mr Christopher J Skilbeck is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon with his NHS practice based at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

    Since graduating from King’s College London in 2002, Mr Skilbeck has dedicated himself to obtaining the best available training in Otolaryngology. As a specialist registrar, he worked in many of the major London Teaching Hospitals.

    Having successfully passed the compulsory FRCS (ORL-HNS) exam in 2010, Mr Skilbeck demonstrated his operative skill winning the RSM National Temporal Bone Competition in 2012. He subsequently embarked on further training in Skull Base Surgery and advanced otology with prestigious 12-month fellowships in London and Cambridge. During his Cambridge fellowship Mr Skilbeck undertook a higher research degree exploring balance problems in patients with Neurofibromatosis type 2.

    Whilst the majority of Mr Skilbeck’s training has been in the UK, he has sought out training opportunities internationally. He was awarded the Nan Blofeld Award in 2009 which allowed travel to The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston, USA. In 2013 The Royal Society of Medicine Section of Otology awarded a travelling scholarship to Mr Skilbeck which allowed him to visit Ospedaliera Papa Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo, Italy.

    Having returned to London in 2014, Mr Skilbeck commenced his consultant work at Guy’s & St Thomas’. Mr Skilbeck’s interest and expertise in the investigation and management of patients with Facial Nerve Palsy led to his appointment as the Lead Clinician in the Guy’s & St Thomas’ Multidisciplinary Facial Nerve Team.

    Mr Skilbeck performs Balloon Eustachian Tuboplasty for patients with Eustachian Tube Dysfunction.

    Mr Skilbeck is passionate about education and has written papers and book chapters as well as acting as a reviewer for medical journals. He is a regular faculty member of training courses and is responsible for the supervision of surgical trainees.
