    Alistair Hunter is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at University College London Hospitals and he sees private patients at the Princess Grace Hospital and the Institute of Sports, Exercise and Health. He has a specialist interest in hand, wrist and elbow surgery.

    He studied medicine at Cambridge University and University College London Medical School and undertook basic surgical training in London at St. Thomas' Hospital, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2006. He completed higher specialist training in Orthopaedics on the North Western and Middlesex/University College Hospital rotations, and achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in 2013.

    He has completed subspecialist training Fellowships in hand, wrist and upper limb surgery at the Hand Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the Upper Limb Unit at Wrightington Hospital. He gained an Ethicon Foundation award for his Travelling Fellowship to the Institut Kaplan, Barcelona. He was awarded the Diploma in Hand Surgery by the British Society for Surgery of the Hand in 2015.

    He publishes research in his specialist areas of interest and is a member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) and the European Wrist Arthroscopy Society (EWAS). He has a strong interest in medical education and holds a Master's Degree from Cardiff University in this subject. He is involved in the training of Orthopaedic surgical trainees and teaches on a number of national courses. He is course director for the Preparation for FRCS (Tr&Orth) Course.

    Alistair Hunter's main clinical and research interests centre on elective and emergency hand, wrist and elbow surgery. This includes complex trauma, post traumatic reconstruction, sports related injuries, Dupuytren's disease, nerve related pathology, joint replacements, carpal instability and expanding techniques such as wide-awake surgery and wrist arthroscopy.
