My professional practice is based on hip and knee arthroplasty and the identification and management of problems affecting the hip or knee. I carry out complex or challenging hip and knee replacement surgery and accept referrals from surgeons around the region. The majority of this work is for revision hip surgery where hip replacements have developed problems which I need to address.

My professional practice includes orthopaedic trauma surgery. I am fellowship-trained in pelvic and acetabular surgery as well as primary and revision hip surgery where a fracture has occurred.

I was appointed to my first substantive consultant post at Newcastle Hospitals in October 2015. After finishing fellowship I spent almost a year in practice there with the same specialty interests and represented my Trust at the Northern Trauma Network in the development of regional services.

I graduated from Cambridge University and trained on the prestigious Percivall Pott Rotation. I worked also in New York and California in translational research methods as a medical student. Elective was spent in Salvador da Bahia in Brazil investigating operative emergencies, beautiful beaches and the fascinating local culture. I spent time in Norfolk as a trainee and close to completion was appointed as the senior revision hip fellow, working with John Nolan, a recent past president of the British Hip Society. I also completed fellowships in Germany with Professor Michael Raschke, Head of AO and in Denmark with Professor Kjeld Sobelle who pioneered minimally invasive periacetabular osteotomy. My year as the pelvic and acetabular fellow at Barts Health allowed me to work alongside Paul Culpan and Peter Bates which enhanced my abilities in acetabular reconstruction for arthroplasty as well as trauma.

I am a current ATLS instructor and also teach as faculty for AO and the Royal London FRCS Viva course. I recently returned to Newcastle as course convenor for an international training course for orthopaedic surgeons. Since returning to London, I have taken over as Head of Trauma and have been appointed also as Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and tutor for the International Orthopaedic Trauma Sciences MSc at Queen Mary University of London.

I am author of a number of publications and book chapters, which reflect my professional interests
