She trained as an undergraduate at Guys and St Thomas Hospitals Medical School, London, qualifying in 1997. She completed her training in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St Georges Hospital Medical school and Queen Charlottes and Hammersmith Hospitals, gaining widespread experience in all aspects of the specialties including ultrasound. She is an examiner of the University of London for the MBBS degree. She holds a Doctorate of Medicine of the University of London and she is actively involved in the training of obstetricians and gynaecologists at all levels. She runs regular workshops in laparoscopic surgery and basic surgical skills. Miss Mavrides holds regular weekly consultations at the Wellington Hospital and is able to respond to requests for ad hoc appointments where needed. Patients proceeding to surgery will be booked swiftly at the Wellington Hospital. She also offers pre-conception counselling, as well as an empathic service to post menopausal patients.

Miss Mavrides specialises in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and uses minimal access techniques wherever possible.
