Mr Tibor Kovacs is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust providing care for men and women with symptomatic breast problems and screen detected breast malignancies. He also offers a routine breast screening service and breast reconstruction. Mr Kovacs undertakes risk-reducing surgery for BRCA mutation carrier patients and those with a strong family history. His areas of expertise in his NHS and private practice include: Breast reconstruction, sentinel node biopsy, Radio-guided Occult Lesion Localisation for breast (ROLL), ADM and dermal flap based breast reconstruction, Management of screen detected cancers and Inflammatory breast disease, granulomatous mastitis.

Mr Kovacs trained in breast cancer surgery and surgical oncology at the National Institute of Oncology in Budapest, followed by training in breast reconstruction and oncoplastic mentorship at South Manchester University Hospitals and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital Breast Units. From 2005-2010 as a Consultant and Lead Clinician at Glan Clywd Hospital in North Wales, he developed and established a new breast reconstructive service with innovative techniques in breast reconstructive service and cancer management including radio guided surgery, dermal flap based breast reconstruction. He established the Sentinal Node Biopsy technique and offers implant based and LD flap reconstructive options for patients. Mr Kovacs has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Eng.) since 2006. He is a regular examiner in Surgical Oncology and Breast Subspecialty for the European Union of Medical Specialists, and Director and Faculty member on regular European Breast Cancer and Oncoplastic Breast Surgery courses. He is the Associate Editor for Breast of the European Journal of Surgical Oncology. Mr Kovacs regularly lectures at medical conferences worldwide. He undertakes post-graduate training in Surgical Oncology to medical students and junior doctors with specialist training in breast reconstruction, general surgical oncology, gastrointestinal oncology and breast surgery. He has been an examiner in Surgical Oncology and in Breast Subspecialty for the European Board of Surgery Qualifications (EBSQ).
