Paul Ziprin was appointed Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant General Surgeon at Imperial College London and St Mary's Hospital in 2004. His subspecialty interests include laparoscopic (keyhole) and colorectal surgery, particularly in patient with colon and rectal cancer. He is Chair of Colorectal Cancer Services and Lead for General Surgery at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
He has developed research interests in the role of circulating tumour cells in predicting outcomes in colon cancer surgery, simulation in surgical education and also in novel biomarkers in anal cancer.
He specialises in general surgery, including the investigation and treatment of hernias (open and laparoscopic surgery) and surgical management of gallstones (laparoscopic cholecystectomy). His subspecialty interest includes endoscopy, and colorectal and laparoscopic surgery, including the investigation of patients with rectal bleeding, the treatment of haemorrhoids and fissures, and the management of patients with colorectal (bowel) and anal cancer.
He believes in patient-centred care, the benefit of multidisciplinary team working and he works closely with his colleagues in The London Surgical Partnership. -
