Mr John Rogers is a Consultant Surgeon with more than 20 years' experience in performing laparoscopic surgery for conditions including reflux (heartburn), groin hernia, sports hernia and gall bladder removal. He also has some 17 years' experience of performing Lap-Band anti-obesity procedures.
He also has specialist interests in oesophagogastric, colorectal and laparoscopic surgery, with particular emphasis on the treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and the treatment of morbid obesity using laparoscopic surgical techniques.
He now works in private practice, including seeing patients at The Princess Grace Hospital. Dr Rogers was formerly Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Surgeon at St Bartholmew's and the Royal London Hospital between 1993 and 2002. During this post he was Director of The Royal London Hospital Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit, which was a clinical partner of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and he regularly performed live surgical demonstrations of complex laparoscopic procedures over a direct video link to the Royal College of Surgeons. He continues to be involved in the training of surgeons in new laparoscopic surgical techniques.
Dr Rogers qualified in medicine at King's College Hospital Medical School in 1979, before gaining fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1985 and then undertook specialist training in Oesophagogastric, Colorectal and Laparoscopic surgery.
