    Fahad is a consultant in trauma and orthopaedics, specialising in lower limb arthroplasty and knee reconstruction surgery, and is based at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. His area of expertise is in sports related knee injuries, anterior knee pain and patella femoral instability, and in managing young adult knee arthritis. Fahad’s surgical procedure portfolio includes primary and revisional hip and knee replacements, uni compartmental knee replacements, patello femoral joint replacements, osteotomies around the knee, patella alignment and stabilisation procedures, primary and revisional soft tissue knee reconstruction procedures, knee arthroscopic procedures and cartilage operations. He also has an interest in and performs innovative patient specific knee replacement procedures and is involved in managing knee arthritis in young patients, particularly performing joint preservation surgical procedures such as meniscal transplant surgery and knee resurfacing.
    Fahad achieved his bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery degree (MBChB) from the University of Liverpool in 1999. He completed his basic surgical training in Merseyside and successfully gained his MRCS qualifications with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004. He successfully completed his trauma and orthopaedic training in 2011 and gained his FRCS (Tr&Orth) intercollegiate specialist fellowship exam in 2009.
    Fahad accomplished his fellowship training and gained experience in lower limb arthroplasty and knee reconstruction surgery from world renowned centres: the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford; the Holland Orthopaedic Centre, Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, Canada and Wrightington hospital.
    Fahad is well published and has been involved in ongoing clinical and lab based research, which has culminated in numerous peer reviewed publications and presentations in both national and international meetings. He is a reviewer and editor for journals in his field and he has also been an author and editor for an orthopaedics book for trainees, which has been very well received.
    Fahad has had a long standing interest in disaster medicine and management and he is currently on the UK International Emergency Trauma Register which deploys doctors in response to international disasters.
