Ms Kate Cross is a Consultant Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeon at Portland Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). She has extensive experience in oncology surgery especially neuroblastoma. She also specialises in laparoscopic (keyhole) and thoracoscopic surgery especially in neonatal and acquired conditions.

Ms Cross completed her medical degree at the University of Newcastle in Australia. After training in Sydney and London she became a Fellow of the Australasian College of Surgeons in Paediatric Surgery (FRACS). In 2007 she began her first consultant post at The Children's Hospital Westmead in Sydney. She then moved to London in 2009 to take up a consultant post at GOSH, where she is now the lead oncology surgeon as well as the speciality lead for the departement. In 2012 GOSH presented her with the Child and Family award.

She is highly active in clinical research and is widely published in book chapters and publications. Her main areas of research include oesophageal and neonatal surgery, neuroblastoma and minimally invasive surgery. She has also has spoken at a number of international conferences and has raised public awareness of the dangers of button batteries through media campaigning.

She is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Paediatric Surgeons (ANZAPS), British Association of Paediatric Surgeons (BAPS), the International Society of Paediatric Surgical Oncology (IPSO) and the International Society of Paediatric Oncology Europe Neuroblastoma (SIOPEN).
