Ms Bim Williams has been a Consultant Gynaecologist with a subspecialty interest in Urogynaecology at the Royal Bolton Hospital since September 2006 and is the lead consultant for the Urogynaecology service. She has clinical expertise in the management of pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence as well as general gynaecological conditions such as menstrual disorders and abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroids, infertility, chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis, sexual dysfunction, menopause and postpartum problems. She also offers colposcopy for abnormal smears and urodynamics testing for urinary incontinence.

Ms Williams graduated from the University College Hospital, Ibadan in 1991, undertaking postgraduate training in the West Midlands and NorthWest Deaneries and was awarded her Certificate of Completion of Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2006. She obtained membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1998 and Colposcopy accreditation in 1999. She was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in September 2016. She spent two years as a research fellow in the Urogynaecology unit of the Liverpool Women’s Hospital, where she conducted clinical trials into reducing postpartum anal sphincter trauma and consolidated her Urogynaecology training which culminated in an MD from the University of Liverpool in 2005.

As part of her commitment to medical education and training, she is an honorary senior lecturer and academic advisor at the University of Manchester Medical School.She is a member of the examination and guideline committees of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

She continues to maintain her research interest in pelvic floor dysfunction and present at national and international meetings. She has published widely in this area and is a co- author of the RCOG green top clinical guideline on the management of third and fourth degree perineal tears. She is a principal investigator for the PROSPECT and VUE clinical trials evaluating prolapse repair surgery.

She is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a member of the International Urogynaecology Association, the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and the North of England Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society.
