About

  • Biography icon plus

I graduated from the University of Salford in 1998 with BSc (Hons) in Podiatry and I have worked for the NHS ever since with the last 10 years being at an extended scope level. I then went on to graduate with my MSc in Sports Injury and Therapy from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2003 and then started my own private practice 'Axis Podiatry' specialising in sports podiatry, biomechanics and orthotic therapy. I continued part time study as well as working full time and in 2013, completing my doctorate research into foot orthoses for low back pain and have had a paper published in a peer review journal. In private practice I have worked on a consultancy basis for a number of premier league football clubs and super league rugby clubs as well as being employed by the FA as podiatrist to the England women's football squads. Being a runner myself, I have a special interest and expertise in assessing and treating runners. I consider the underlying cause of recurring injuries, not just the symptoms. I am also able to screen as a means of injury prevention. The Gaitscan system I use combined with my knowledge means I can advise if orthotic therapy is needed and / or which footwear might be best for the individual foot type.
