Miss Ishrak Hamo MB BCh MCS FRCSI Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon
Miss Hamo trained as general surgeon and was first female in Sudan to attain a Masters degree in Clinical Surgery and qualify as a Surgeon. She has practised as a consultant surgeon abroad since 1982 before moving to University College Hospital, London to gain further experience in breast surgery, her speciality of interest. She undertook more Oncopastic Breast surgery training in Royal Liverpool and Whiston Hospitals and attended numerous national and international training courses in Oncoplastic Breast surgery and Breast Reconstruction, mainly in Italy and France. Since 2004 Miss Hamo has practised as Consultant Breast Surgeon across hospitals in the UK, including The Royal Marsden.
In her post in the Isle of Man, Miss Hamo led and developed the breast services and introduced breast reconstruction, sentinel node biopsy and multidisciplinary meetings, conducted for the first time on the Island. The President of the Association of Breast Surgeons (ABS) applauded Miss Hamo's efforts and expressed that the then established breast service met and exceeded the requirements of a modern breast unit established by the ABS.
Miss Hamo has published in peer reviewed Journals and presented in international and national meetings. Her last substantive oncoplastic consultant surgeon post was at The Royal Bournemouth before returning back home to london and work only in privatel sector.
She specialises in and performs all Oncoplastic breast surgical and reconstructive procedures including therapeutic mammoplasty implant-based & pedicle flap breast reconstruction, breast reduction and augmentation.
Miss Hamo is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. She is also a member of the Association of Breast Surgeons, European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland (ASGBI) and Women in Surgery (WIS)

Miss Hamo moved with her family to UAE before completing her higher surgical training. She initially worked as surgical registrar in Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi. she returned to complete the remaining 6 months of training and was top candidate to attained the MCS both by examination and dissertation.
With the establishment of the new Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Al-Ain University, UAE, Miss Hamo was appointed to an academic position for 5 years till 1995
In addition, Miss Hamo was active in charity work addressing women promotional programs in the 3rd world through NGOs in UAE and she was the Head/ President of Sudanese Women Association in UAE for four consecutive years.
