    Professor John Hollingdale completed his medical studies at the Westminster Medical School in 1975. He completed his orthopedic training on the Charing Cross and St Mary's rotation. He was appointed a consultant in 1987. He worked at Central Middlesex and Northwick Park Hospital until he retired from the NHS in 2017. During his time at Central Middlesex, he developed an interest in lower limb arthroplasty. He sat on the council of the British Orthopaedic Association for three years. He is a lifelong member of the International Society for technology in athroplasty and was president of the Society in 2010. Recently, he has become interested in robotically assisted knee and hip replacement surgery. He also had a special interest in sports medicine and for a time was the orthopaedic surgeon to Arsenal football club and the London Irish rugby football club. He is married to Jane who he met at the Westminster medical school when he was a student. He was awarded a visiting professorship at the Annan Research and medical centre in Mauritius 4 years ago.

    He is an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College and continues to teach medical students and interview prospective medical students for Imperial College every year.
