    Dr Swale trained in Medicine at The University of Southampton Medical School. After achieving her MRCP she started training in Dermatology in 1996, working in major London Dermatology centres including St John's Institute of Dermatology, Barts and the London and The Royal Free.

    She was awarded an MD by The University of London in 2004 for her research into 'Genetic Aspects of Skin Cancer'. Dr Swale has been a Consultant Dermatologist at The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust since 2004, and since 2006 has combined this post with a locum Consultant Dermatopathology post.

    Dr Swale initiated ongoing weekly Dermatology Clinicopathological meetings at The Royal Free in 2004 and is a core member of the skin cancer multidisciplinary team.

    In Dermatology Dr Swale sees adults and children with the full range of skin conditions. Her special interests are skin cancer and pigmented lesions including mole mapping and screening, vulval skin conditions and diagnosis of inflammatory conditions of the skin using correlation between the clinical and pathological features.

    Her skin cancer work includes seeing patients with melanoma, basal and squamous cell carcinomas for diagnosis, treatment, and follow up. Dr Swale uses the dermatoscope to facilitate pigmented lesion screening. She performs dermatological surgery and works closely with plastic surgeons for more complex cases. She also works with colleagues in gynaecology, sexual health medicine and women's health physiotherapy.

    Dr Swale aims to optimise communication with patients and colleagues in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for her patients.
