    Dr Ghaem-Maghami qualified from The Royal London Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1990 obtaining her MBBS. She trained as a specialist in Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology in North East and North West London, successfully obtaining her MRCOG in 1998 from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and certificate of subspecialty training in gynaecological oncology in 2004 from the RCOG. She carried out research leading to a PhD in immunology of the female genital tract from University of London (2001).

    She is a BSCCP accreditated colposcopist. She has a special interest in treatment of abnormal smears and precancerous cervical disease (CIN), cervical cancer, uterine (endometrial) cancer, vulval cancer, fallopian tube cancer and ovarian cancer.

    She is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncologist at Imperial College NHS Trust (Queen Charlotte’s and Hammersmith Hospitals) since 2006. She is a Reader (associate professor) and a principle investigator leading a research group in Gynaecological Oncology at Imperial College, London.

    She has been the Chair of the Tumour Panel in The West London Gynaecological Cancer Centre since 2012 and the director of Subspecialty Training in Gynaecological Oncology since 2013.

    Her current research interests include research into novel surgical technologies in ovarian cancer surgery, ovarian cancer diagnosis and treatment of cervical (smear/CIN) abnormalities. She has published in leading medical journals such as BMJ and Lancet Oncology, has edited a textbook and contributed chapters to leading textbooks in ovarian cancer.
