Dr Raj Srirajaskanthan is a consultant gastroenterologist and physician at London Bridge Hospital, Blackheath Hospital and Kings College Hospital, London. His specialist interests include gastrointestinal cancers, irritable bowel syndrome, endoscopy and neuroendocrine tumours (NETS). He was appointed Honorary Reader (≜ Associate Professor) of Gastroenterology at Kings College London.
He is a nationally accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist. He is Head of the Neuroendocrine tumour Unit of Kings Health Partners an accredited ENETS Centre of Excellence. He is the clinical lead of Gastroenterology of Kings College Hospital.
Following graduation from Guy’s, King’s and St. Thomas’ medical school with his medical degree and an intercalated BSc he undertook his post-graduate training in hospitals in Oxford, London and South East England.
He is accomplished in endoscopy and colonoscopy and has attended a number of advanced endoscopy courses. In addition, he was awarded the British Society of Gastroenterology travel fellowship to The Medical University of South Carolina, USA.
In 2010 he was awarded an MD (Res) from University College London following breakthrough
clinical research into neuroendocrine tumours. He is still actively involved in research and is vastly published in several journals. He has written and edited three textbooks on liver disease and neuroendocrine tumours. He has authored over 90 peer review papers and also 6 book chapters plus supervisor PhD students studying in the field of Neuroendocrine tumours.
He is a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology, The American Gastroenterological
Association, European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society. He is also an executive committee member of the United Kingdom and Ireland NET Society.
