Dr Elliot Smith first started his training at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London. He specialised in Cardiology at the Manchester Royal Infirmary and the London Chest Hospital.
He has worked as a Consultant since 2008, based at the Barts Heart Centre and the Royal Free Hospital, London and he also sees patients privately at a number of locations.
Dr Smith sees patients across the spectrum of General Cardiology including chest pain syndromes, hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmia and valve disease.
His specialist area of interest is in the investigation and management of coronary artery disease. He is an Interventional Cardiologist performing Coronary Angiography and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention procedures. His sub specialist focus is in Complex Coronary Interventional techniques including Rotational Atherectomy and the minimally invasive treatment of longstanding arterial blockages (Chronic Total Occlusions - CTOs). He leads the Complex Coronary Revascularisation Program at Barts, and is recognised internationally as an expert in this area. He regularly travels to Hospitals in Europe, Asia and the Middle East training other cardiologists to perform these procedures, and participates in major conferences and live case demonstrations world wide.
Smith's research interests include Chronic Total Occlusions (CTO) and Percutaneous Haemodynamic Support (minimally invasive heart pumps).
