    Dr Clive Handler is Consultant in Pulmonary Hypertension at the National Pulmonary Hypertension Unit at the Royal Free Hospital, the UK tertiary referral centre for connective tissue disease associated pulmonary arterial hypertension. He is also Honorary Senior Lecturer at UCL Medical School, and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Guy"s and St Thomas" Hospitals. He was previously consultant cardiologist at Northwick Park and St Mary"s Hospitals.

    He qualified from Guy"s Hospital Medical School and trained in cardiology in the USA and several centres in London. His interests are in general invasive and non-invasive cardiology, investigation and management of chest pain and breathlessness, hypertension and heart failure, the interface between primary and secondary care, and improving communication between clinicians and patients.

    He is the author and co-author of 13 books including "Preventing Cardiovascular Disease in Primary Care", 2nd Edition, and "Management of Cardiac Problems in Primary Care", 2nd Edition, both published by Radcliffe Publishing, the Oxford Handbook of Pulmonary Hypertension. For patients he has written "Living with Coronary Disease" (Springer) and "Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: The Facts" (OUP). He edited "Guy’s Hospital: 250- years", and is the co-editor of "Vascular Complications in Human Disease: Mechanisms and Consequences", Classic Papers in Coronary Angioplasty", "Advances in Vascular Medicine", (all by Springer) and "English and Reflective Writing Skills in Medicine" (Radcliffe Publishing). He is the author of numerous papers on cardiology, pulmonary hypertension and medicine.
