Dr Sara McCartney is a consultant gastroenterologist at The Wellington Hospital with special interests in general gastroenterology, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, IBS, diverticular disease, bowel cancer screening and adolescent gastroenterology.

Dr McCartney is an accreditated bowel cancer screening colonoscopist in the National screening programme and is an examiner in colonoscopic accreditation. She has a subspeciality interest in inflammatory bowel disease and studied inflammatory mechanisms in IBD for her PhD thesis. Dr McCartney is chairman of the Adolescent and Young Person's section at the British Society of Gastroenterology. Dr McCartney is also a consultant gastroenterologist at University College London Hospital where she is also the chairman of gastroenterology.
