Dr Michael Burdon is a specialist consultant in sports and exercise medicine practicing in the London area. He graduated from the Royal Free Hospital, University of London in 1994. Initially Michael became a GP working in a busy city practice, from here he developed a special interest in sports and exercise medicine (SEM). He completed a diploma in SEM in 2004 and then obtained an MSc at Bath University in 2010, becoming a Consultant in 2013 after gaining entry to the GMC Specialist register. Since then Michael has been working both as a consultant and GP. He has worked for the MoD for the last 7 years providing specialist care the military patient and athletes. In the Southwest he also runs private clinics at Peninsula Sports Medicine in Devon.
Michael has an extensive list of professional and elite sports that he has worked in, these include: football, rugby, swimming, diving, hockey and sailing. He covered all the aquatic sports at the London 2012 Olympics and has travelled with various teams, including the diving squad to Mexico and GB Hockey tours to India and Malaysia. He has also worked for the FA covering disability football and morerecently the under 18 England squad.
Although Interested in all areas of SEM and MSK, Michael is particularly interested in diagnostic ultrasound/ultrasound guided injections, hip and groin conditions and the management of knee and hip osteoarthritis.
Michael's extensive experience in a plethora of sports and disciplines means that he has acquired a unique and highly sought after skill set, allowing him to provide the best treatment and care to a whole array of sporting injuries.
