Dr Ashley qualified MBChB from Birmingham University in 1989, after gaining an Intercalated degree in Medical Biochemistry in 1986. Dr Ashley undertook training in Anaesthesia at various major teaching hospitals including The Middlesex Hospital, University College Hospital, London, St George's Hospital and Great Ormond Street. She was also an anaesthesia and intensive care registrar at Flinders Medical Centre in South Australia. After spending three years as a consultant with a special interest in Cardiac and Paediatric Anaesthesia at King's College Hospital, London, Dr Ashley moved to UCLH in 2001.She was one of the original anaesthetics consultants involved in the move of cardiothoracic services to the Heart Hospital in Autumn 2001. She is currently College Tutor at the Heart Hospital and has instigated a European Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia training programme. Dr Ashley has admitting rights at all the major private hospitals in Central London.
