    Dr Carlos Gómez is the Clinical Director of Intensive Care at The Harley Street Clinic and a Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Intensive Care and Anaesthesia at St Mary's Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London. He qualified in Medicine in Barcelona and has undergone extensive clinical and academic training in many of London's teaching hospitals and was a Clinical Fellow in the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He also holds the US Medical Licensing Exam and the US Board certification in perioperative echocardiography.

    Dr Gómez' clinical interests include cardio-pulmonary intensive care, the inflammatory response and acute renal failure (MD Thesis), cardiovascular anaesthesia and difficult ventilation and weaning. He has written several manuscripts, chapters and reviews on these subjects and is currently editing a multi-author textbook of intensive care medicine. He is an avid teacher of medical, postgraduate and allied health students. He is an expert member of the St Mary's Research Ethics Committee and has been advisor to the UK National Confidential Enquiry into Peri-operative Deaths (NCEPOD).

    Dr Gómez is a regular lecturer in national and international conferences. His current research activities centre around clinical outcomes in patients with kidney failure or requiring tracheostomies.

    His interests outside of medicine are family life, reading, sports and photography.
