    Dr Anthony Nathan qualified from medical school at the Middlesex Hospital (University of London) in 1975, obtaining his membership of the Royal College of Physicians two years later and Fellowship subsequent to that.

    Dr Nathan is trained in clinical cardiology, specialising within interventional electrophysiology, having been involved in this sub-specialty since it started. He performs all forms of cardiac electrophysiological study including ablation of atrial, junctional and ventricular tachycardia. He also performs implant and explant of pacemakers and implantable defibrillators including biventricular devices (cardiac resynchronisation therapy) for heart failure. He is a founder member of the Wellington Arrhythmia Group and looks after all types of cardiological in-patients at the Wellington Hospital.

    Dr Nathan has a major interest in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary disease and undertakes all forms of cardiac catheterisation in adults including coronary angiography. He is fully involved in the care of patients with other cardiac problems including hypertension and cardiac failure. He lectures on all aspects of arrhythmia care and also on general cardiology to a wide variety of audiences around the world.

    Dr Nathan"s major non-medical passion in life is scuba-diving, and he is a British Sub-Aqua Club Advanced Instructor and Advanced Diver. He regularly teaches diving at the Peninsular Sub-Aqua Club in Cornwall, where he has a house. He and his wife are both keen walkers and travel extensively to far-flung locations.

    Dr Nathan takes a keen and active interest in sport and is a season ticket holder at Arsenal. He is also a keen skier, and is interested in antiques, wine, ballet/contemporary dance (Patron of Sadler"s Wells), opera and theatre and regularly participates in or attends all of these.
