    Dr Mike Mendall qualified from Cambridge University and the Middlesex Hospital Medical School with distinction in 1985. He was one of Tatler’s top 500 consultants in private practice in 2013. His ethos is to not just treat the gut but also the whole patient.

    Dr Mendall trained in gastroenterology at St George’s in South West London. Clinically, he is an experienced gastroenterologist and is frequently sought for second opinions on difficult cases. He leads an inflammatory bowel disease service covering 1700 patients, and a clinical service delivering 12000 endoscopic procedures per year. He is an expert interventional endoscopist having performed more than 7000 colonoscopies, 10000 upper GI endoscopies, 3000 ERCPs, as well as a large number of other endoscopic procedures. These include the emergency control of bleeding ulcers and varices and stenting of cancers of the oesophagus and duodenum, videocapsule endoscopy and oesophageal physiology studies. Dr Mendall has served on the SW London training committee, the British Society of Gastroenterology Clinical Services Committee , the National Cancer Intelligence Network Upper GI cancer committee, as well as a variety of other hospital committees.

    Dr Mendall continues to be actively involved in research, presenting at and attending many international meetings. He has made and continues to make important original contributions in a number of different areas of gastroenterology including dyspepsia, inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel. Dr Mendall has more than 100 publications in prestigious journals including the Lancet, British Medical Journal, Gastroenterology, Gut and the American Journal of Gastroenterology.
