    Since January 2007, Dr Steven Allen has been the lead breast radiologist at the Royal Marsden NHS Trust, Surrey. He is also a breast screening radiologist at the South West London Breast Screening Service at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, London. He is specialist advisor to the National Institute of Clinical Excellence on radiological breast interventional procedures.

    Dr Allen uses large biopsy devices to perform minimally invasive procedures with the intention of obviating surgery in selected cases. He has published the successful results in a number of papers.

    As lead of the breast MRI service at the Royal Marsden, where they perform several hundred examinations each year, with clinical indications including symptomatic work up, pre-surgical planning and high risk screening.

    Dr Steven Allen has academic interests in the mammographic quantification of breast density and digital breast tomosynthesis, with research projects ongoing and in preparation in these areas.

    He reports cross sectional oncological CT and MRI examinations at the Royal Marsden where he has a secondary interest in urological oncology.
