Dr Christopher McNamara

Dr McNamara is Consultant Governance Lead for HCA at University College Hospital. In his role, Dr McNamara leads interactions with hospital medical staff and the hospital leadership team to assist the hospital by providing medical advice and promote high quality, cost effective care.

 

In his role, Dr McNamara acts as consultant champion for clinical governance and ensures there are robust clinical governance systems in place within the facility, providing clinical leadership to the consultant body.

 

Dr McNamara chairs the Clinical Governance Committee at HCA at University College Hospital and works with the Head of Governance to provide regular governance reports to the Harley Street at University College Hospital Medical Advisory Committee, raising and advising on any Governance concerns and action plans where necessary. He also supports the Governance team in regulatory challenges and compliance as relevant to professional practice.

 

Dr McNamara also provides medical advisory services for HCA's The Princess Grace Hospital in promoting excellence in leukaemia treatment. In this role, he leads interactions with hospital medical staff and the hospital leadership team to assist the hospital by providing medical advice and promoting high quality, cost effective care.

 

He contributes to the strategy, policies and decision making regarding leukaemia services and advises HCA to ensure that care provided within the facility is appropriate and efficient. He advises on initiatives to drive clinical standards by providing professional advice on clinical governance matters and ensuring the adoption of those by colleagues in the leukaemia services area.

 

In addition, he works with medical insurance companies, GPs, other relevant local NHS contacts, and patients to educate and advise on relevant clinical updates to treatments in leukaemia services available in the facility.

 

All services provided under this agreement are charged to HCA UK. In 2020, the total paid to Dr McNamara for these services was £72,086. Until 31 August, the total paid for these services in 2021 is £44,472.

 

HCA requires the doctors that advise us to attest that if they also practice in the NHS that they are not compromising their NHS commitments.
