Dr Robert Marcus graduated from University College Hospital Medical School in 1977, subsequently specialising in haematology at UCH and as Leukaemia Research Fund fellow at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School. Prior to joining King's College Hospital in 2008 and coming to LOC, he was a Consultant Haematologist at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge from 1987, where he was the Lead Cancer Clinician and established the regional bone marrow transplant unit. He was lecturer in Pathology at the University of Cambridge and is an Examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists.Dr Marcus was Clinical Director of the British Committee for Standards in Haematology where he was instrumental in drafting a number of new guidelines in clinical practice and is currently chairman of the low grade lymphoma working party of the National Lymphoma Clinical Studies Group. He is also medical advisor to the Lymphoma Association, and Vice-President of the Leukaemia Care Society.Dr Marcus has authored or contributed to more than 150 papers and articles, and has been the lead investigator in a large number of clinical trials involving new treatments, that have changed clinical practice in lymphoma and other haematological malignancies. He has also co-edited three books including most recently a new standard textbook on the Lymphomas currently being updated for its second edition.
