Mr Isla has been a permanent NHS consultant surgeon since 1997. He was initially appointed at Ealing-Hammersmith Hospital and since 2010 to the staff of St Mark's-Northwick Park Hospitals.Mr Isla pioneered laparoscopic adrenal surgery, obesity surgery and laparoscopic surgery for gastroesophageal cancer in London. He has also published the largest series of laparoscopic insulinomas in Europe. Currently his specialist practice is concentrated mainly in 2 areas: laparoscopic surgery for benign oesophageal conditions (reflux and achalasia, primary and revisions) and high volume laparoscopic biliary surgery (complex gallbladder and bile ducts) of which he has one of the largest experiences in London with more than 250 laparoscopic bile duct explorations. Mr Isla has commenced the treatment of acute gallstones and pancreatitis in a single-stage, which he now has the largest experience with having completed the largest cohort of cases in the country which was recently presented to the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland.Within the general surgical field Mr Isla does all sort of laparoscopic hernias and lumps and bumps.
