HCA International Limited appoints new Group Chief Financial Officer

HCA International Limited has appointed John Bugos as its new Chief Financial Officer with effect from 1st July.

John Bugos, who is 48 and currently Director of Strategy and Planning at HCA International, will succeed Jim Petkas who is retiring after 20 years with HCA. Jim will return to the US in September after a handover period with John Bugos.

Mr Petkas became CFO in the UK in 2007 and has played a vital role in directing a major growth plan that included the development of many new services and facilities for HCA International.

Michael Neeb, President and Chief Executive Officer of HCA International, paid tribute to the contribution Jim Petkas has made to the organisation: "Jim's keen insight and financial acumen have been instrumental in the success and expansion of the group over the past five years," he said. "We will miss Jim and his many contributions to the company, and wish him the very best as he relocates back to the US."

In his new role, John Bugos will be responsible for the financial operations of HCA's six hospitals, its four joint ventures with the NHS in London and Manchester and its ten diagnostic and outpatients' centres around the Capital.

John began his career with Booz Allen Hamilton in 1987 as an analyst then moved to Deloitte as a management consultant. He held positions as finance controller and CFO in the technology sector in the U.S. before relocating to the UK, where he switched to healthcare eight years ago, joining Nations Healthcare Limited.

John Bugos has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Pittsburgh, and an M.B.A. in Corporate Finance from Carnegie Mellon University, Tepper School of Business. He is married with three children.

The HCA cancer network is the largest provider of cancer care in the UK outside the NHS. Uniquely for the private sector, HCA has its own clinical trials unit based in Harley Street, central London. HCA is also the largest provider of critical care and cardiac care, both adult and paediatric, in the independent sector. One in five of its hospital beds is a critical care bed.
