Mr John Wolfe was trained at St Thomas Hospital and at the Peter Bent Brigham in Boston, USA before becoming a Consultant Surgeon at St Mary's Hospital. Since his appointment at St Mary's Hospital in 1984 he has published over 250 peer reviewed articles and over 90 book chapters. He was a Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons and a Moynihan Fellow of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. More recently he has been President of the European Board of Surgery and President of the Vascular Surgical Society of Great Britain and Ireland, and is President of the European Society for Vascular Surgery.Mr Wolfe adapted the Miller cuff to a St Mary's boot for distal venous reconstruction and has, more recently, developed the visceral hybrid procedure for thoraco-abdominal aneurysms. He has been closely involved with the development of vascular training, vascular workshops and simulators and has had a research interest in the diagnosis and biology of graft stenoses.
