    Dr David E Ward specialises in clinical cardiology, and arrhythmias and their medical and electrophysiological treatment. He also has an interest in pacemaker and ICD implantation and revision, as well as in atrial septal defect closure. Other current interests include medical and interventional treament of heart rhythm disorders

    Dr Ward obtained a BSc(Hons) in 1968 and gained an MBBS in 1971. This was followed by a MD in 1981. He qualified at Guy's Hospital, London and after general medical training joined the cardiology department at St Bartholomew's Hospital where he learned the art of clinical arrhythmology and the science of invasive cardiac electrophysiology. In 1986 he became a consultant in cardiology and electrophysiology at St George's where he founded the cardiac arrhythmia and clinical electrophysiology service.

    Dr Ward has served on the councils of the British Pacing and Electrophysiology Group and the British Cardiac Society.
