Mr Michael Thilagarajah is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon, specialising in lower limb problems. Alongside his private practice, he is currently based at Darent Valley NHS Hospital in Kent. He has been a consultant for 16 years.

Mr Thilagarajah graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School and went on to complete his specialist surgical training at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital and a number of Kent NHS hospitals. Prior to his current post, he was appointed Consultant foot and ankle surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas'. In his present position, Mr Thilagarajah is currently Trauma Lead and Lead Foot and Ankle surgeon, and has fifteen years experience in performing hip and knee replacements. He has been the lead for fractured hips for nine years and transformed the quality of service provided for this vulnerable patient group. He offers an up-to-date trauma and sports service.

Outside his practice, Mr Thilagarajah is very passionate about training future surgeons, acting as College Tutor for Orthopaedics at Darent Valley Hospital and often teaching at Royal College of Surgeons Surgical Skills courses.

Mr Thilagarajah always provides patients with the highest level of care and compassion and has received level 4 NHS Excellence awards for his services. He always takes a holistic approach to the lower limb, appreciating the significant interactions between the different components of the leg.
