Miss Scott has been a Consultant at the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust since July 2000.The Royal Free is part of University College London and is a teaching hospital. Miss Scott is involved in the teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate doctors and was the College Tutor for the RCOG (Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) for 4 years. She was awarded Fellowship to the RCOG in 2006.Miss Scott undertook her medical training at University College Hospital. Her specialist training, following medical qualification, included working in a variety of hospitals, namely Chelsea and Westminster, St Marys, and Queen Charlotte's hospitals in London as well as Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge and the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. During her specialist training, she also undertook research relating to the onset of labour at term and the physiology of preterm labour leading to the award of an MD by the University of London.Prior to taking up private practice in 2007, Miss Scott was the Lead Obstetrician at the Royal Free as well as being the Lead Consultant for labour ward. During this time, as part of her leadership role, she enabled the implementation of:1) a midwifery led service running in parallel to the consultant led service 2) the development of an upgraded labour ward costing '3.2million. The key features of the labour ward included state of the art medical equipment, an obstetric high dependency unit but placed in a woman-friendly home-from-home type environment, which matched that in the new midwife-led birthing centre. These developments went hand in hand with her philosophy and specialist interests involving the management of women with high risk or complex pregnancies, care during labour, with the promotion of normality whenever possible. In her NHS practice, she is has recently developed a joint specialist renal clinic for women with kidney problems in conjunction with the transplant unit. In addition she has responsibility as lead for maternity risk management within the Trust. In her private practice, many of her pregnant patients are normal healthy women with uncomplicated pregnancies. However, her expertise allows prompt recognition and treatment of any complications should they arise.
