Richard Packard is senior Consultant Surgeon at Prince Charles Eye Unit, Windsor England. He did his ophthalmology training at Moorfields Eye and Charing Cross Hospitals in London. It was here that his life long interest in small incision cataract surgery and foldable lens implantation began in 1978 He has taught about this in 50 countries and continues to be involved the development of phaco technology and new designs and materials for small incision intraocular lenses. From 1999-2007 he was on the board of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is chairman of the Association of Ophthalmologists in the UK.
