Dr. Sabine Ernst performed her medical training mainly in Germany, but also in the US (Los Angeles and Boston) and Switzerland.Her clinical expertise is focused on catheter ablation of complex arrhythmias with a special emphasis on atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and arrhythmia is complex congenital heart disease.For five years before joining Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Trust Dr Ernst was the director of the magnetic navigation laboratory in Hamburg, Germany, where she and her team performed pioneering work developing this new technology. In her current role she is introducing this technology to the UK, developing a service offering arrhythmia patients procedures using up-to-date equipment which combines 3D imaging, advanced 3D mapping techniques and remote catheter navigation. Dr Ernst takes part in major cardiology meetings across the world and actively collaborates with researchers in US, Canada, Europe and Asia. As well as making educational presentations, she has played a major role in training local teams in the use of advanced electrophysiology (EP) techniques. She is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).Dr Ernst is also a member of the educational board of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), where she serves as the course director for the European teaching course for electrophysiology. She is a member of the EP guidelines committee for Atrial Fibrillation of the ESC and serves as the European representative in the membership committee of the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS).
