    Mr Evangelos Efthimiou graduated from the Medical School of Athens and undertook his basic surgical training in the South East Thames Region. He pursued his research at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in Hammersmith Hospital where he investigated the differential gene expression in pancreatic adenocarcinoma under Professor Nick Lemoine.

    Mr Efthimiou's higher surgical training in Upper GI and Laparoscopic Surgery was completed in Wessex. He worked for a year at The Royal Marsden Hospital in Oncological Upper GI Surgery and subsequently he undertook a Fellowship in Bariatric Surgery at the Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University in Montreal, Canada under Professor Nicholas Christou. He then returned to the UK where her currently works as a Consultant in Bariatric and General Surgery at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

    He is a member of the Association of Upper GI Surgeons (AUGIS) and a member of the Bariatric Obesity Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS). He is also a Regular member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
