- Biography
- I have been a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in gastrointestinal radiology at St Mark’s, St Bartholomew’s and Northwick Park Hospitals for 30years, and was awarded an Honorary Professorship in Gastrointestinal Radiology at Imperial School of Medicine in 1998. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists, The Royal College of Physicians, and the Royal College of Surgeons of England by election in 1998. I have written 6 textbooks, about 30 chapters and almost 200 articles in my specialty. I retired from the NHS in 2004, but still maintain an active academic interest, and have just completed co-editing the 6th textbook.
My particular fields of interests cover the radiological investigation of swallowing, the oesophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, and functional problems of the pelvic floor. Performing ultrasound examinations has been a major part of my work for over 20years, and I undertake a broad range of investigations with this modality including examinations for hernia. I also have an interest in bone densitometry and perform some CT and MRI related to my specialty. I have particular expertise in MRI of anal fistula.
I currently work part time solely in the Department of Radiology at the Princess Grace Hospital.
