- Dr Baranowski is a fully qualified consultant in Pain Medicine having studied to a higher degree level the science behind the subject and having undertaken several prestigious training opportunities. He was appointed as a consultant in Pain Medicine in 1994 and now devotes his whole professional time to the management of pain. His clinical skills are underpinned by an active involvement in both research and education. He sits on a number of National and International committees and bodies. He is involved in a number of groups that are responsible for drawing up international guidelines for the management of chronic pain. Dr Baranowski is an editor of several books and an author of multiple chapters and papers in the field of pain management.
His particular area of expertise is the management of chronic pain by physical interventions using a range of complex techniques such as neuro tracing, computerised tomography, epiduroscopy and neuromodulation.
His specialist areas of interest are complex spinal pain, neuropathic pain and urogenital pain.
As well as working in the private sector Dr Baranowski has a significant involvement in the NHS at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery at UCLH. As a result he is in a position to constantly reappraise his skills and interventional approaches utilised in the context of a multidisciplinary team, which involves nurses, psychologists and physiotherapists and other consultant colleagues. In the private sector Dr Baranowski uses this gold standard model and has built up very close working relationships with psychologists and physiotherapists of excellent repute who are able to provide a cognitive behavioural aspect to pain management.
